How answer ranking works
First we filter the official-style Wordle answer list so only words that fit all of your green, yellow, and gray clues remain - including Wordle duplicate-letter rules. Then we score each remaining word by positional letter frequency inside that candidate set. Words with common letters in common positions rise to the top, so your next guess is more likely to crack the puzzle. Matching valid guesses outside that answer pool still appear, ranked lower as a fallback.

Where do the word lists come from?
Candidate answers combine the original public Wordle solution list with solutions NYT has published over time. Valid guesses must appear in the full guess vocabulary; ranked results prioritize the answer list, then other matching guesses. The tool still does not look up today's secret word for you.
Why are some answers ranked higher?
After filtering impossible words, we rank by how often each letter appears in each position among the leftovers. Higher scores mean the word shares more common patterns with other remaining candidates. More on that approach is in the Wordle strategy page.
